The Sippin’ Show
Between Tuesday’s art auction and Thursday’s Art Bar party, you’d think those fellows at the Sippin’ show would be plumb out of juice. Hell, we’re working just to graduate at this point. So how to do our best show and accomodate Thursday’s "DIY music" theme? Simple. We’ve already done it. Will and James do more than the Sippin’ Show; a lot more, as it turns out. This week’s show will feature Platypussy Records artists you may not have met. Daemon Flushboy’s new album will be debuted, as well as unreleased tracks from Singalong Sam, Elektroplankton, Onomatopoeia, Annesthesiology, Hearts a’Bustin with Love, Jet Washburn, MC Habeus Corpus, and surprise live guests in-studio. Our prize for the highest donor will be the first-ever, alpha-copy-nobody-else-will-own-a-copy-like-yours Platypussy Records 2006 Sampler. 2005’s summer sampler was one of the Columbia underground’s must-have for afficianadonistas, and this year’s features many new artists and several improved ones. Call, donate, and you may walk away with the ultimate DIY music collector’s piece!
You can catch the Sippin’ Show on Thursday from 10 - midnight.
Lady Miss Gee’s Special “Foodraiser” Show
Be sure to check out Lady Miss Gee’s special "foodraiser show, this Wednesday from 4-6 p.m.!
Lady Miss Gee herself says:
I will play genre sets that exemplify the variety of music I play on my show (example: Krauterock, Blues, Indie, Girl music, silly music). I will also announce a list enititled: Movies that make Lady Miss Gee hungry. My prize will most likely be a 10,000 Villages gift certificate for the highest pledge of my show or for the day. However, a CD mix entitled "Nostalgia: Music from the 1940’s through the early 1980’s" will be definitely given to my show’s highest bidder.
DIY Week Kickoff Party
We’ve just recovered from 3 hours of sun (courtesy of Mother Nature), food (courtesy of Tios), crafts (cell phone decorating), and tunes (courtesy of WUSC and the Jam Room) out on Greene St. If you missed out earlier today, we took a few pictures for you. Make sure you don’t miss this sort of fun later in the week - you’ll want to be at the Art Auction tomorrow evening and the concert at the Art Bar Thursday night. Check out the details.
First, former Student Government President, Justin Williams, supports WUSC and enjoys some food from Tios:

Eric perfect the crossing guard look with a roll of WUSC stickers:

Will notices how drab his cell is:

Snap, Crackle, and Pop: The vinyl show

Did you know that on every Monday night from 10pm to midnight, WUSC has an all vinyl show? How much do you want to wager that ClearChannel stations don’t even have record players anymore? We know they certainly aren’t using them to do amazing Brian Wilson retrospectives.
Joe’s show tonight will be doing what other stations don’t, he tells us:
I’m doing a show that features Beach Boys’/Brian Wilson’s ill-fated, much rumored SMiLE project and how it went from myth to reality in 37 years. In this special edition of SNAP, CRACKLE AND POP: the vinyl show, I will be playing a bootleg of SMiLE culled from the 1967 sessions, a MONO(!!) copy of Smiley Smile (the slap-dash Beach Boys album put out in its place, featuring retooled SMiLE tunes), and Brian Wilson’s 2004 finished version. And being that it is the vinyl show, each album will be played in its entirety on vinyl.
If you have the highest pledge of the show, Joe is going to hook you up with copies of Smiley Smile, and the finished SMiLE release from 2004. Joe also supplied us with this very cool promo for the 1967 release of the SMiLE album before it got canned.

"I’ll be doing label showcases throughout my show and offering a mix CD of artists I usually play in
my show."
